Bombays were developed in Louisville, KY by Nikki Horner in the 1950’s. Her goal was to create at miniature black panther by crossing sable Burmese with a solid black American Shorthair. After years of effort on her part she achieved her goal and Bombays are now recognized by the major cat associations. Bombays are a people oriented breed. In general they want to be near you and are amenable to being hugged and cuddled. Bombays are a fairly rare breed of cat and there are usually waiting lists to buy a kitten. The price of a Bombay kitten usually runs around $1,500.00 USD.
